There are three options for moms who want to binge-watch TV shows: watch them alone late at night, let them join in, or take over free time when you may be and “should be” doing something else. When you’ve found the time, now all that’s left is finding the perfect binge-worthy TV show to start.
With TV shows constantly launching, getting canceled, or only having a season or two (no thank-you), finding the RIGHT TV show to dedicate your time to can be a pain. So what TV shows ARE binge-worthy for moms?
Here are the top 11 that earned their spot:
Workin’ Moms
Launching in 2017, the Canadian comedy-drama Workin’ Moms follows the journey of moms (and friends) and their experiences during motherhood. You witness toddler tantrums, wild teens, and relationships gone awry.
Still, the combination of (finally) realistic postpartum experiences and seven seasons available through Netflix, it’s perfect for binge-watching.
Ginny & Georgia
Ginny & Georgia is another comedy-drama you don’t want to skip out on. Also available on Netflix, the show originally premiered in 2021 and has two seasons currently out. Ginny & Georgia follows teenage Ginny, her mother, Georgia, and her family. Of course, Ginny feels like she’s more mature – and smarter – than her mother, leading to many sticky situations.
As of January 2023, it’s still unconfirmed if the series is coming back for season 3, but it’s looking good so far.
The Good Place
Featuring Kristen Bell as the main character, the American fantasy and sitcom The Good Place premiered in 2016 and continued for four seasons. Available to watch on Netflix and Apple TV, the series follows Eleanor (Bell) going to “the good place” after death – only to realize she’s actually in the “bad place.”
Lots of humor, lots of interesting characters, and plenty of episodes to kill time.
Grace and Frankie
The casting of Grace and Frankie was just perfect – and you’ll agree once you’ve watched all seven seasons of this comedy from 2015. Not to ruin the surprise, but you’ll watch as Grace and Frankie reshape their lives after their husbands. Sol and Robert reveal that they’re gay – and in love with each other.
I’ll warn you that most characters are later in their life (think 60+), but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable for a younger mom. This gem of a show is available to watch on Netflix.
One Day at a Time
Based on the 1975 series of the same name, this 2017 comedy-drama follows Penelope as she navigates motherhood as a single mom with her Cuban-American family – which happens to include her mother living with her. While tackling serious and not-so-serious issues with her children, we get a look at an imperfect mother and an unexpected family unit.
The odd relationships (like their relationships with their building’s manager) and self-discovery make the four seasons worth binging. It’s also available to watch on Netflix.
The Golden Girls
A classic, The Golden Girls originally premiered in 1985 and still remains among the best binge-worthy TV shows for moms. The sitcom has seven seasons and has an amazing balance of plot, comedy, and tackling more serious issues facing women.
Hulu has all seven seasons available to watch – and I highly recommend putting it on in the background if you’re tackling those late-night newborn feeds.
Grey’s Anatomy
Starting long before I was even a mom, Grey’s Anatomy – and all of its’ 19 seasons – was a binge-worthy watch. Launched in 2005, the show follows Meredith Grey as she grows from being a medical intern to a resident to a doctor. With the main character officially leaving in the middle of their 19th season, a 20th season may happen, but it’s unlikely to continue.
To be fair, the earlier seasons of Grey’s Anatomy are the best, but the characters still continue to develop, making it a long-term binge for moms who prefer to stick to one show.
The Nanny
The Nanny is an underappreciated sitcom from 1993 with six seasons of comedy following Fran Drescher as Fran Fine, the unexpected nanny of wealthy widower Maxwell Sheffield’s three children. Of course, the saleswoman is not a natural nanny, nor are the children overly welcoming.

Only Murders in the Building
Already renewed for a season three, the Hulu original Only Murders in the Building features two popular actors and actress Selena Gomez as they attempt to solve the murders in their Upper West Side apartment building. After launching a podcast covering their discoveries, they realize it’s a bit more dangerous than they originally thought. With an unlikely friendship building, the plot thickens.
Definitely recommend watching for the moms who are also true-crime or mystery fans! While it is primarily a mystery, there is still some humor. Of course, you can watch it only on Hulu.
Modern Family
Another TV show with 10+ seasons and that I feel was more enjoyable in the first seasons, Modern Family, has earned the title of binge-worthy. Starting in 2009, the sitcom follows a diverse family and their experiences with parenthood and familial relationships. You get a lot of personality from the cast, and there is never a dull moment for their characters.
Available on Hulu, Modern Family is a show that can be turned on in the background or while you’re doing the forgotten laundry and still enjoy it.
Abbott Elementary
With two seasons and renewed for a third, Abbott Elementary is a “mockumentary” and is a comedy that you’ll enjoy. The show follows a group of teachers in a Philadelphia public school where they’re determined to help their students succeed despite the odds. Outnumbered and underfunded, you’ll get to experience the awkward moments of parent-teacher talks, teacher relationships, and the social media-obsessed principal.
Abbott Elementary can be watched on Hulu and earned its place thanks to the pure enjoyment of watching.
